About this deal

The AT-LP60 is a two-speed (33 and 45 RPM, or revolutions per minute) belt-driven unit. Be aware that it is not a 3 speed turntable. Should you want to dabble in those quaint but often delicious old 78s, you’ll have to look elsewhere (see the AT-LP120, below). Before using the turntable you need to install the platter and belt. This is very easy to do, but make sure you read the instructions and follow the video provided by Audio Technica. Some people have mistakenly installed the drive belt on the white plastic post instead of the brass motor pulley. The LP120, on the other hand, does not come in a version that features Bluetooth connectivity. At least not at the time this article is written. 14. USB Functionality Now, the Lepai LP-2020A is just an amplifier. The big price difference between the Lepai and the other receivers is because the Lepai doesn’t have any of the features of a receiver. No remote control, sorround sound, multiple inputs, equalization, AM/FM radio. It’s just a small box that lets you connect your turntable to a pair of bookshelf speakers and control the volume, treble and bass. However, the Audio-Technica’s real party-piece, though, is its ability to connect wirelessly to your system, smart speaker or similar. And the most significant upgrade here over the old AT-LP60BT is the appearance of aptX Bluetooth standard wireless streaming – hence the “X” in the model name. Being able to stream at this kind of standard is an obvious plus-point – as long as the Audio-Technica is doing its analogue-to-digital conversion effectively, of course.

It also has a built-in radio, which may or may not be a desirable feature for you. It does play 78s, and it’s downright cute and portable, but it’s more of a novelty item when compared with the AT-LP60. The recessed, sometimes tinny sound proves the point. The AT-LP60-USB will get your classic albums out of the box and into your MP3 player. Bringing quality and audio fidelity in to the mix, you’ll be able to continue listening to the classics for decades more to come. Let’s start with the fundamentals. The AT-LP60XBT has a belt-drive design, and the belt turns an aluminium platter. It’s a fully automatic turntable, operating at 33.3 or 45rpm, and has “start” and “stop” buttons – which should mean very little interaction with the tonearm. But if you need a more affordable solution, I wouldn’t buy a receiver. Instead, I would connect the AT-LP60 to a set of computer speakers like the Logitech Speaker System Z323 with Subwoofer . You would get a very decent sound. You can control the volume and the bass. However, you won’t have any of the other features of a receiver.Just be aware that with this setup, you have to adjust the volume manually with the speaker’s volume knob. This may be a small inconvenient. Saying that, as the turntable supports Bluetooth 5.0 aptX connectivity, the sound quality is still pretty impressive over a wireless connection. It does have a USB port, built-in switchable phono preamp and RCA inputs (two RCA cables included), so you can hook the unit up to an external stereo system, computer, powered speakers or any other component that does not have a dedicated turntable input. If you like to move your turntable around and carry it with you, you will have an easier job doing so with the LP60 compared to the LP120. 4. Price

Audio-Technica has, understandably and wisely, erred on the side of caution with the XBT’s sound. There’s reasonable separation to the audio image, and an even-handed approach to the frequency range – the mid-range is pushed just slightly forward but it isn’t obvious enough to skew the overall sound. All you need to do on the LP60 is basically to place the turntable platter and attach the rubber belt that connects the motor and the platter. Then connect the cables and you are ready to go. Connect the USB enabled device to a PC or Mac with an available USB port (USB 1.1 or higher) and use the included software to preserve your records in a digital file format. The recording software converts tapes and records into digital recordings or even CDs. You can also change the speed or pitch of a recording. This way, the record player's quality can live on and be appreciated for many more years to come. The Audio Technica AT-LP60-USB is a great entry level turntable with a decent sound quality at a very affordable price. This turntable beats its similar price competitors. This fully automatic turntable is very easy to use and easy to assemble. Best option for for the average listener. Not a good option if you want a simple solution to digitize your vinyl collection because there is some software learning to be done. Not a good choice for someone looking for a more professional turntable with adjustments. Some malfunction units have been reported but remember that Audio Technica has a great customer support. I hope you liked this review. Feel free to leave your comment below. Happy listening! Yes, it’s true that a manual turntable can be better in many ways due to its quality materials and more control over how your records can be played, but if you’re just getting into vinyl and turntables for the very first time, or if you’re someone that wants to play vinyl but wants something more low maintenance, getting an automatic turntable like the AT-LP60 might be a great idea.

Audio-Technica recommends that you then “rotate the platter 10 times” using your hands to reset the auto mechanism, get rid of any twists in the belt and make sure the belt “rides smoothly along the drive rim on the underside of the platter”. It’s designed to improve on its well-regarded predecessor without leaving its comfort zone in terms of price. But is it possible to advance the quality of performance without adding to the price? You’ll find that some of the other applications are just as complicated as Audacity if not more, and you’ll have to buy them. I’m sure there are other options but this list is enough for the majority of users. If I find better options I’ll make sure to update this post. Sound Quality This is where the LP60-XBT really starts to make a case for itself. It has everything you’d expect from an affordable turntable, alongside some features it would have been unreasonable to expect not so long ago. With bluetooth connectivity, the turntable can be connected to wireless speakers or headphones without a signal cable. Which might be a neat feature.
